{"id":202,"date":"2024-03-10T18:33:01","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T18:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/help-documentation\/?p=202"},"modified":"2024-03-10T18:33:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-10T18:33:02","slug":"anatomy-of-a-site-posts-pages-widgets-and-plugins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/help-documentation\/anatomy-of-a-site-posts-pages-widgets-and-plugins\/","title":{"rendered":"Anatomy of a Site: Posts, pages, widgets, and plugins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anatomy of a Site: Posts, pages, widgets, and plugins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The four basic \u201cbuilding blocks\u201d for your site are the following:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/help-documentation\/create-a-post\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"154\">posts<\/a>,\u00a0pages,\u00a0widgets, and\u00a0plugins. \u00a0To add content to your site, you can use posts or pages. \u00a0To add functions to your site, you can use widgets and plugins. \u00a0In this section, you will find brief explanations of these building blocks as well as helpful tips for how to best use them on your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;<strong>What is a post?<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;When you want to write content for your site, you have the option of creating both posts and pages. &nbsp;Posts will be appear on the \u201cHome\u201d page of your site in chronological order, with the newest post appearing at the top of the page.&nbsp;
