It was developed at the School of Professional Studies of the City University of New York (CUNY SPS), supported by the New York State OER Initiative, by Kelly Hammond and Sarah Kresh. It runs annually through the month of March.

The workshop is built around a series of five live online discussions with a supporting LMS resource site. As a final workshop project, participants conduct a review of an online course that they have developed or taught, specifically looking at opportunities to implement inclusive pedagogy through open educational practices.

All faculty and course developers are invited to participate in the workshop, whatever their level of experience with inclusive pedagogies, OER, or Open Pedagogy. The three thematic meetings (on representation, accessibility, and student voice and choice) are open to all faculty, students and staff, to foster community engagement with the project of aligning our online pedagogy to our school’s guiding principles and mission.

Workshop Learning Objectives:

Become aware of DEIA practices as they apply to online course design and teaching

Explore the relationship of OER, Open Pedagogy, and DEIA practices

Workshop Outcomes:

Review a course through the lens of DEIA practices, specifically through the framework of an annotated course review rubric

Create a proposal for implementing OER or Open Pedagogy to increase the inclusivity of a course

Schedule:

The workshop runs annually through the month of March.
