You can associate rubrics with most Blackboard assessments, such as assignments or discussion forums, and use them for more consistent grading.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why use Rubrics?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To help you communicate your expectations to students<\/li>\n<li>To assist students in devising effective work strategies<\/li>\n<li>To ensure a high level of grading consistency and transparency throughout your course<\/li>\n<li>To provide consistency across multiple sections of the same course<\/li>\n<li>To make your time spent grading more efficient<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>KEY FEATURES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Built into Blackboard and integrated in the Grade Center for consistent grading<\/li>\n<li>Visible to students under &#8220;My Grades&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to import and export rubrics for use in different courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>GETTING STARTED<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Step-by-step instructions on how to create a rubric in Blackboard, associate a rubric with an assessment, and manage rubrics, see <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Learn\/Instructor\/Grade\/Rubrics#create-a-rubric\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blackboard&#8217;s Rubric Page.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Step-by-step instructions on how to grade with rubrics, see <a href=\"https:\/\/help.blackboard.com\/Learn\/Instructor\/Grade\/Rubrics\/Grade_with_Rubrics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blackboard&#8217;s Grading with Rubrics Page.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can create your own rubric from scratch, but there are many educational websites that offer rubrics you can use as a template for developing your own rubrics, for example <a href=\"https:\/\/resources.depaul.edu\/teaching-commons\/teaching-guides\/feedback-grading\/rubrics\/Pages\/default.aspx\">DePaul\u2019s Teaching Guide on Rubrics<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/teaching.berkeley.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/value_rubric_packet.pdf\">AACU\u2019s Value Rubrics Packet<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/rubistar.4teachers.org\/index.php\">Rubistar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You might also want to ask your Academic Director if there are standard rubrics recommended by your program, or if they have any particularly effective examples other instructors have used.<\/p>\n<p>When designing your own rubric, it is a good idea to create a table in Word with categories and levels of achievement (<a href=\"https:\/\/spsfaculty.commons.gc.cuny.edu\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1145\/files\/2018\/02\/Grading-Rubric-for-Essays-002.docx\">see this example<\/a>).
