The default setting is one submission per assignment. If a student encounters a technical difficulty, it may be helpful to delete the student\u2019s assignment submission and delete the record of the original submission, or to allow additional attempts. Once the instructor has deleted an original submission or enabled additional attempts students can resubmit the assignment.<\/p>\n<p><u>Step 1<\/u><\/p>\n<p>First, click \u201cGrade Center\u201d in your course site menu. Hover over the grade (or yellow circle if the attempt has not been graded) and click the down arrow button that appears.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture3.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2537\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture3-3-100x108.png?resize=797%2C287&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"797\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Step 3<\/u><\/p>\n<p>In the dropdown that appears, click on \u201cView Grade Details\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture4.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2538\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture4-2-143x300.png?resize=296%2C365&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Step 4<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Once the Grade Details page opens, click \u201cClear Attempt\u201d. This will permanently erase the student\u2019s assignment, which cannot be undone.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you may select \u201cIgnore Attempt\u201d. The student will be able to submit the assignment or test again, but the previous attempt will be kept, and the attempt will not be shown as \u201cNeeds Grading\u201d or considered for grading purposes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture5.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2539\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture5-300x170.png?resize=575%2C326&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"575\" height=\"326\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Step 5<\/u><\/p>\n<p>To provide additional attempts for this student\/assignment, click \u201cAllow Additional Attempt\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture6.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2540\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/sps-faculty-community-hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/04\/capture6-300x48.png?resize=719%2C115&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"719\" height=\"115\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This change is applied to one particular assignment for the student attempt you have selected.
