Instructors might be asked to provide accommodations to students to ensure equitable access to course materials and assessments. Brightspace offers several tools to help instructors customize settings for individual students.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This guide will walk you through the steps to set extra time on quizzes, provide additional quiz attempts, and adjust quiz or assignment settings for individual students, called \u201cSpecial Access\u201d in Brightspace. By following these instructions, you can effectively support your students\u2019 diverse learning needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Set Extra Time on All Quizzes for an Individual Student<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

    Steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. From the course navigation bar, select \u2018Tools<\/strong>\u2019 and select \u2018Classlist<\/strong>\u2019 from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Locate the student, select the chevron icon to the right of the student\u2019s name, and select \u2018Edit Accommodations<\/strong>\u2019 from the dropdown menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        1. Check the Modify Time Limit<\/strong> checkbox and select how you would like to enter the student(s) accommodations.
          – Multiplier of original quiz time: <\/strong> For example, you can allow for  1.5 times the original quiz time (sometimes referred to as time and a half). For a 30-minute quiz, the student with this accommodation would have 45 minutes to complete the quiz.
          – Extra time:<\/strong>  This option allows you to allocate a specific amount of extra time, such as 20 minutes, to each quiz. For example, for a 30-minute quiz, the student would have 50 minutes to complete the quiz.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          1. Select Save<\/strong> to save these settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. You should see an icon next to the student\u2019s name, indicating that the student now has accommodations for all quizzes within the course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            1. From the course navigation bar, select \u2018Activities<\/strong>\u2019 and select \u2018Quizzes<\/strong>\u2019 from the dropdown menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Select the quiz you\u2019d like to modify. After going into the quiz, select \u2018Availability Dates & Conditions<\/strong>\u2019 on the left and select \u2018Manage Special Access<\/strong>\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
