This guide assumes that groups have already been created, and describes how to create a group assignment or convert an existing individual assignment into a group assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Attention:<\/strong> Students who officially withdraw (W) will still appear in group enrollments. Make sure to check the Groups Enrollment list against your Classlist when enrolling students in Groups.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Create Group Assignments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the steps below to create the assignment using the <strong>Assignments<\/strong> tool and link it to pre-existing groups within the <strong>Assignments <\/strong>tool:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the course navigation bar, select \u2018<strong>Activities<\/strong>\u2019 &gt; \u2018<strong>Assignments<\/strong>\u2019 from the dropdown menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcFppx_9VFyAOomYJt1H9ag-k0ZETOwMQGhujBVqNz6q4IgSyHF0zvyaEjrNGCTyw53iaL6Rm6Bfbzp4yL0rOhvaGckHmc4SLfCvNAkMfMZ1TFeJ8kJHlxjf8SwpRW4CoN7VJMxk2NeLcHPDo8hNPHtTQgR?key=eqiZLZiI-t4yMzUifcJoBA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can choose one of the following options:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a new group assignment by clicking the <strong>New Assignment<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcwL6OhRs4BrRY584bVrfY_nezsvtXJhrh-btKuvgt7_u-bku2kkUSWPE9xjYta_8puQqBx3N0wtyH5QFrE_QlquH-7ZRTavAM7YY0VgEUToW6Ze1n1or_udXbvRcF8rzy_dWuQNA12sK_mEEErNLyBbP5M?key=eqiZLZiI-t4yMzUifcJoBA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate an existing assignment that you\u2019d like to convert into a group assignment, click the chevron icon next to its title, and select \u201c<strong>Edit Assignment<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcO-hbvNh2wfWVF_cxWARq_wo9TFoDnuzKRT5R1M9g2UeljH01lnqiacNFRiYU3PYVFhVViPNoz862O9VblXyQrk-ib59yOOtV0u0ce37y84OqR2X71Xqfvptu-E5wJqVKO8lOrrgdYMKmCQBMzm2ACN-KM?key=eqiZLZiI-t4yMzUifcJoBA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Edit Assignment page, click \u2018<strong>Submissions &amp; Completion<\/strong>\u2019 on the right, select \u2018<strong>Group Assignment<\/strong>\u2019 under Assignment type, and select the Group Category from the dropdown menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXeNEzBohq5NH-3D3ZV4MckGDOJEo8lxAqfCKWtPx6dCkQYfYBhc0lewuP0p9ORMDemuO_917jT7hILMk2B9dTHIbNsF_07VY1qKNOScKN51hBdta_s2zEYAjpEZ8VDQPpttue0BIfeALsRypduNAd5JRiCz?key=eqiZLZiI-t4yMzUifcJoBA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: you will need to have the <strong>groups [category] <\/strong>ready already to use this option. If you haven&#8217;t already created groups in Brightspace, please refer to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/openlab.sps.cuny.edu\/teaching-guides\/2024\/11\/04\/create-groups-in-brightspace\/\">How to Create Groups<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Configure other Assignment settings.
