This guide assumes that groups have already been created, and describes how to create a group discussion or convert an existing individual discussion into a group discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Attention:<\/strong> Students who officially withdraw (W) will still appear in group enrollments. Make sure to check the Groups Enrollment list against your Classlist when enrolling students in Groups.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Set Up a Group Discussion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select \u2018<strong>Discussions<\/strong>\u2019 from the course navigation bar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcDysuJbfRrtFj5WjNidyh72csdpYiaB-qLMk5MDuVO5yTmrE5ys3Pb9_2k4K2f07OojNxlSlZJn3ebPS37ADZHkYc4gvmce93PSENKNNk1Xrn8T9TJBBTEmWlzHWl7YZZHMxpZusnXk9jTq2prkBC1mjd3?key=PFUC0BKFecU3Jq-wfyZgSg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Discussions page, you can choose one of the following options:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a new group discussion topic by clicking the <strong>New<\/strong> button and selecting \u201c<strong>New Topic<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXemZLvg9edYB-2aYudK_4t1fUaR-yYqsqqdVf21pm4sP5tBdmUqN5-t9IbzqIw-ShDznkb_x70SwvWJkC1YehI0rfbz4bkcD5-sXf1NQ777dLIMgbz-azbOSacN-et0aYQNPEQHsxeQMGFRsOR3KDpKbypp?key=PFUC0BKFecU3Jq-wfyZgSg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate an existing discussion topic that you\u2019d like to convert into a group discussion, by clicking the chevron icon next to its title and selecting \u201c<strong>Edit Topic<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXcBzLI41CxGlH5fDvI08nm7beoINjAGBKh-7cBBa9nnIgFrBAH4-dkeosEWJBGYtIgCxoZdYiiV8P0pBXYUfjAmeFVoHwINez3FP8gvjmDBDEB8HuvtuYsVttYSpTJHo1GUlz-S3CioofTNag5S64mbCqIx?key=PFUC0BKFecU3Jq-wfyZgSg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Edit Topic page, click \u201c<strong>Availability Dates &amp; Conditions<\/strong>\u201d on the right and select \u201c<strong>Manage Restrictions<\/strong>\u201d under Group and Section Restrictions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdnROVrwNuLY-xX3Xh5ghdWfu8d4r85jsfxZRR-HRcdoJNNJlPPdA0aMbGpxZxuZIsaeaYZzkQfFb2NOuCpL7zOwNPlO7CJXyW1-BBYKLp-j6-IjpiPWD5ffwQoGv7PpZqyGhjh3nzL25e_LYoVFi4yj0A6?key=PFUC0BKFecU3Jq-wfyZgSg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On this Group and Section Restrictions screen, select \u201c<strong>Restrict topic and separate the threads<\/strong>\u201d and select the Group Category who will participate in this discussion from the dropdown menu.
