We\u2019ve also kept up with events like <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/cuny-sps-club-week-black-student-union\/\">Club Week,<\/a> new <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/parent-club-podcast-ep-3-parent-child-relationships\/\">Parent Club podcast episodes<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/cuny-sps-student-association-questions-dean-on-budget-deficit\/\">Student Association meetings<\/a>, to name a few!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most recently, <em>The Kiosk<\/em> also held a contest for short fiction stories, which saw plenty of submissions from aspiring student writers and poets. Ana Maria Londono Leudo&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/red-suspenders\/\">&#8220;Red Suspenders&#8221;<\/a> won first place, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/dear-marley-a-reflection-on-the-fear-of-the-unknown\/\">&#8220;Dear Marley&#8221;<\/a> by Samantha Funk, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/the-young-student-who-overcame-his-fear-at-san-diego-cemetery\/\">&#8220;The Young Student Who Overcame His Fear at San Diego Cemetery&#8221;<\/a> by Tasqui Guayasamin in third place. Last but not least, Maliha Zaman&#8217;s poem, <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/fear-of-the-unknown\/\">&#8220;Fear of the Unknown,&#8221;<\/a> claimed the top spot in our special poetry category. Each piece was unique and delightful to read!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also held our Fall 2023 Journalism Workshop Series, which focused on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/kiosk-kicks-off-workshop-series\/\">basics of student journalism<\/a>, followed by one on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/fall-journalism-workshop-series-continues-with-anatomy-of-a-story\/\">anatomy of a news story<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, <em>The Kiosk<\/em> is always open to new student writers! We\u2019re on the lookout for CUNY SPS news, personal essays and opinion pieces, as well as multimedia pieces, which can include everything from podcasts to videos to photojournalism. If you\u2019d like to contribute, check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/thekiosk.net\/submission-guidelines-faq\/\">submission guidelines<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Kiosk<\/em> will return on the first day of classes in Spring 2024.
