Founded this semester by the former Software Development Club, the AI Club is a vibrant, inclusive space where students gather to explore, learn, and create using artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the leadership of club president&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dennys-antunish\/\">Dennys Antunish<\/a>, a BS Information Science major, and supported by a dynamic team\u2014Vice President Jason Charles, also majoring in BS Information Science; Treasurer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/k-l-archer\/\">Katerina L. Archer<\/a>, a BA Communications and Media major; and Secretary&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alynnrivera\/\">Amanda Rivera<\/a>, a BS Health Information Management major\u2014the AI Club is redefining what student tech communities can look like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At its core, the AI Club is dedicated to educating, empowering, engaging, and advocating for ethical AI development. The club\u2019s mission is ambitious: to envision a future where students from all backgrounds harness artificial intelligence to drive innovation, solve real-world problems, and contribute to a more ethical and intelligent society. This vision is realized through a range of activities designed to cater to diverse interests and skill levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AI Club offers a variety of engaging events and initiatives, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Interactive Workshops and Discussions:<\/strong>&nbsp;Members participate in AI-driven discussions and hands-on workshops that demystify complex concepts and encourage active learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mini Hackathons:<\/strong>&nbsp;These events not only foster a spirit of collaboration but also help members enhance their technical skills in a fun, competitive setting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social and Networking Meetups:<\/strong>&nbsp;From AI-themed game nights to social meetups, the club creates ample opportunities for students to bond over shared interests.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ethics and Real-World Applications:<\/strong>&nbsp;Open discussions on AI ethics challenge members to think critically about the implications of technology in today\u2019s world, promoting responsible innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project-Based Learning:<\/strong>&nbsp;Group research initiatives and hands-on projects allow members to apply AI knowledge practically, preparing them for future technological challenges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The AI Club collaborates closely with the Information Science program and the Student Life office to ensure that its initiatives are well integrated within the campus community. This synergy not only broadens the club\u2019s reach but also enriches its events with interdisciplinary perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This semester, the club is launching three major initiatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AI Club Contest \u2013 Call for Entries:&nbsp;<\/strong>This creative contest invites members to submit AI-generated images that visually represent the club for use in media and digital platforms. Submissions must include the text \u201cAI Club\u201d and \u201cCUNY SPS\u201d and adhere to specific guidelines to ensure fairness and creativity. The&nbsp;<strong>deadline to submit is April 18, 2025<\/strong>.
