The CUNY SPS Accessibility Toolkit is here to support SPS faculty and staff in creating truly open and accessible materials that are free and accessible for all students. Select CONTENTS to access sections such as Key Concepts, Best Practices and Brightspace Accessibility. If you rely heavily on a particular program, such as Excel, PowerPoint, or Zoom, take special note of Appendix B: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Other Software-Specific Accessibility Guides. It has excellent software-specific accessibility guides.

Accessible Syllabus

OFDIT works with programs and faculty to ensure that all syllabus documents follow best practices for accessibility, including logical reading order, appropriate use of the headings formatting tools, alt-text for images, and accessibly formatted tables. Ensuring that your syllabus is formatted in a way that is accessible for all students makes it easier for students to use it as their go-to resource doc throughout the semester.
