Student Government Information Session

CUNY SPS is now accepting nominations for students to run for election to two organizations at the CUNY School of Professional Studies: Governing Council and Student Association.

Governing Council is the primary policy-making body of the School, subject to the authority of the policies and bylaws of the CUNY Board of Trustees. Seven students are needed to serve on the Council for a one-year term running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

Student Association considers and approves student events, reviews applications for funding for conference participation, helps in determining Commencement activities and provides student leadership to the School. Fifteen students are needed to serve on the Association for a one-year term running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

This session will introduce you to the difference between the Governing Council and the Student Association, the student roles and responsibilities, and provide an overview of the election process. Elections will take place from Thursday, April 3 through Thursday, April 10. Election results will be announced on Monday, April 21.
