Here’s a sample blog post!
Featured Image
From the post editor, navigating to post settings offers an opportunity to add a “featured image” to your post. This featured image will display alongside the post title in the published list of all posts on your site. It’s a great opportunity to include a thoughtful visual element that accents any text or content you want to include in the body of your post.
If you choose to include a featured image, please be sure to include an image description or “alt text” to maximize accessibility on your site! If you’d like more information on how to write good alt text, please contact the OpenLab Team for resources.
How to Use Posts + Categories
Posts display in reverse chronological order, but you can organize them using categories and category archives. Navigate to Dashboard > Posts > Categories to manage the categories you’d like to use on your site. This template includes a handful of possibilities for categories that might be useful for this site, but you’re free to delete them, add your own, or ignore them altogether.
WordPress allows Category Archives to be added to the site menu by navigating to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus > Categories. This allows you to displays certain posts but not others by choosing a certain category archive to appear in the site menu.
This post is categorized under both Events and News + Announcements, both of which appear in the site menu so that visitors to this site can view either with one click. You can add new categories by navigating to Dashboard > Posts > Categories at any time.
