In the IT workspace, AI is incorporated into many IT tools, especially within Cyber-security and digital forensics.

That is great Madhu, can you share some examples of IT tools with Cyber-Security and some insights on how this has been working for your field?

    Thanks!

I teach art history, so I’m aware that most of my students are taking my course for a general education requirement and will most likely not work in the area of art or art history.

I’ve been trying to teach my students how to use generative AI as more of a “helper” or “tutor.” For example, I share practical use cases and prompts such as “I’m short on time, what part of the assignment do you think will take the most time or where should I focus my resources?” “I have no idea how to start my assignment. Can you help me figure out my next step?” “Can you review my assignment and give me tips on where I might improve?”

The idea is that by framing these kinds of questions, students can use AI to overcome common learning barriers, like procrastination, uncertainty about where to begin, or difficulty identifying weak areas in their work. The goal is not for AI to be a replacement for their work but to guide and empower them.

I hope these AI skills will have broader applications that extend beyond the classroom. Whether in the workplace or other areas of life, students will inevitably face unfamiliar challenges or need to learn new skills.

    Hi Lilly,

One AI-based tool is the security orchestration and automation platform that simplifies security operations. This tool can analyze various alerts and automate responses based on predefined playbooks. Another AI tool available on the Microsoft Office 365 platform is Microsoft Copilot. Microsoft Copilot is a generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Microsoft, similar to ChatGPT.

    Happy holidays,

To prepare a future workforce for disciplines requiring AI tools, it’s essential to integrate AI into the curriculum through both foundational knowledge and practical application. Offering courses on AI basics like machine learning, data analysis, and discipline-specific applications will help students understand how AI can optimize workflows in their field. Hands-on, project-based learning, and industry collaborations will provide real-world experience and ensure students are ready to implement AI solutions effectively.

Additionally, it’s important to teach students to critically assess the ethical implications of AI, such as bias and privacy concerns. Emphasizing adaptability, where students learn to acquire new AI skills continuously, is also crucial. By combining technical expertise with ethical awareness and adaptability, students will be well-prepared to use AI tools to improve workflows in their careers.

    Best,

    Norlene Thomas
