Scheduling Zoom Meetings for Your Course
Introduction
Zoom, CUNY’s web-conferencing tool, has been integrated into Brightspace. This integration allows instructors to schedule meetings directly inside a course site. In addition, the meetings will appear on the Brightspace calendar.
The integration works with a CUNY-licensed Zoom account only. Follow these instructions to configure your CUNY Zoom account and integrate the Zoom Portal.
If you have scheduled a meeting with Zoom before then the following steps will look familiar.
Getting Started:
From within a course’s Zoom Portal, select Schedule a New Meeting.

By default, the Topic (or name of the Zoom meeting) will be your course ID. Feel free to change it or leave it as is.

Enter the date, time, and duration of your meeting.

You can schedule a recurring meeting for your course, by ticking the Recurring meeting box. Here you can choose your meeting recurrence preference: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or No Fixed Time.

Review the remaining Meeting Options and select the ones best suited for your course meeting.

When complete, be sure to select Save.

You will now see the meeting details. In this example, you will see a Class Meeting that’s recurring every two weeks on Wednesdays. You will also see the meeting Passcode.
NOTE: You must share the Zoom meeting passcode with the students, as they will be prompted to enter the passcode when joining the Zoom meetings.

You can update the description of the Zoom Portal to include information about the External Learning Tool topic, including the meeting passcode. Click on the Zoom – SPS caret followed by Edit Properties in Place.

Click on the Zoom – SPS LTI 1.1 text to update the description.

Enter the desired text in the description and click Update when done.

Now when you access the Zoom Portal, you will see the scheduled meeting(s) under the Upcoming Meetings tab. To launch a Zoom meeting, select the Start button.
