The first Diwali celebration hosted by the South Asian Student Union at CUNY SPS was held on October 9, 2025, bringing students together to honor the Festival of Lights and its cultural significance. The event highlighted the meaning of Diwali and its traditions through a presentation. Attendees enjoyed food, games, and complimentary henna designs created by an SPS student.

Sangeetha Sasikumar, Co-President of SASU and MS in Data Science student, gave a presentation on the significance of Diwali.

CUNY SPS BS in Business student Bahja Mohmmed is a henna artist. She crafted special designs for the attendees.
