Due to a recent update to the Blackboard mobile application, the “Messages” feature is now prominently displayed in the course homepage. If your students use this feature to message you, you will only see a notification if you use Blackboard mobile.

If you do not use the Blackboard mobile app, we recommend that you either ask your students to avoid the Messages feature, or update your notification settings on desktop.

To turn on these notification settings, please follow the below steps:
1. Log into Blackboard and click on “Notifications Dashboard” from your home screen.
2. In the “Alerts” module, click on “Edit Notification Settings.

3. Under “Bulk Edit Notification Settings”, select “Courses I am Teaching”
4. Make sure all the tick boxes are checked for “Course Messages” and then click Submit
